Pensacola Beach Brawl 2014: Josh Ladner, Elite Men

Since 2012 Josh Ladner has been at the top of the list of competitive CrossFitters on the Mississippi Coast. Josh began his competitive career playing football for d’Iberville High School, where he was part of the 2004 high school state championship team. He continued his football career by playing Division 1 collegiate football for the University of Southern Mississippi. Now, Ladner is the head football coach of the d’Iberville Warriors 9th grade football team, and he also serves as head coach of the Warrior powerlifting team. We are proud to have him as a coach at Bandit CrossFit and as a mentor and team mate for our competitive athletes.

How long have you been doing CrossFit?
3 years

What is your competitive CrossFit experience?
I believe this will be my 8th competition. Not counting the open.

Why did you choose the Beach Brawl?
Great venue, and other than regionals, it’s probably the best measure against great Crossfit talent in our area. If you want to be one of the best, you have to compete with the best. (Editor’s note: this will be Josh’s third time competing at the Beach Brawl. He was second in the Male RX division last year.)

Why do you want to do CrossFit competitions?
I love to compete. It drives me to train harder.

What are your goals in the Beach Brawl competition?
To do the best I can possibly do. My goal is to leave it all there and represent God and my family in the best way possible.

What movement do you hope to see?
Anything with a barbell and bear crawls or farmer carries.

What movement do you not want to see?
High volume toes to bar, or a lot of running.

Why do you do CrossFit?
I enjoy the community of crossfit. I also enjoy people working together for a common goal and dying daily together as a team.

Why Bandit CrossFit?
I get to throw down with some of my best friends and some of the hardest working people I know. Some of the best people I have ever met train at Bandit, and I am proud to know them and represent them.

Josh’s most recent competition was the Mako CrossFit Summer Team Throwdown held in July at Pensacola’s Mako CrossFit. Josh teamed up with fellow Bandit, Dale Meitzler, to bring home a first place finish against solid teams fielded by Mako CrossFit and CrossFit Mobile.
